dead magpie
DREAM
On the night of Samhain, I dreamt of walking up narrow rocky woodland steps. I was travelling with a party of others but couldn’t see any of them clearly. From behind me and to my right, a young boy fired a stone from a slingshot. A magpie fell, dead, to the left of the path beside me. When I realised what had happened my mind recoiled – I remember thinking: ‘Don’t look’. It was just too sad to contemplate.
INTERPRETATION
You are seeking higher knowledge but there is a part of yourself, represented by the impetuous young boy, that doesn’t understand the significance of your journey. This boy has the potential to sabotage your spiritual development.
Birds bring messages. The black and white plumage of the magpie is symbolic of the integration of polarities (light/dark, right/left, life/death etc). The timing of your dream is fitting as Samhain is a time when the veils between the worlds thin and communication occurs between the living and the dead. Killing the magpie is shooting the messenger.
If you were to lose your ability to commune with spirit, you would be profoundly sad. Fortunately, your subconscious has brought the issue to the attention of your conscious mind in this dream. Don’t linger over possible losses; continue to climb the steps of spiritual development and amazing things will happen.

It’s a great relief to read this, it was such a vivid dream that I knew it must be important for me, but I was at a loss as to just what the message was!!
2009 sees a prolonged and repeated transit of Neptune to my natal Moon… so thoughts of loss have been at the back of my mind pretty much constantly. At the same time, I know that when Neptune is involved, almost all you can do is ‘Let Go and Let God(dess)’ – making this dream message an extremely timely reminder.
Thank you

Cool, your Neptune transit fits right in with the dream’s themes of spirituality and loss. On a journey, things/people/places&ideals are left behind but by surrendering to the experience, you reach the place that you are meant to be.
